Transportation
Getting to
the local nutrition site every day,
or, those necessary appointments is a major concern of the elderly and their
families.
How it Works
Tuscaloosa
area and Northport residents, age 60 and older, can receive this service by
contacting FOCUS Transportation Service. Calling in advance (a few days or a
few weeks) assures your transportation to important medical and social service
appointments.
This is a
door to door service, meaning a van will come to your door and take you to the
entrance of the office where you have an appointment. For those seniors who are
wheelchair bound, a van with a lift is available. Wheelchair travelers may need an
escort to ride with them. When you are ready to go home, simply ask the office
staff to call FOCUS. The vans are equipped with a two way radio and will be
directed to return for you.
How Much it Costs
Requested donation
for transportation to medical appointments is $5.00 per round trip. These
donations are an important part of the FOCUS Transportation Service.
Remember
to call as soon as you know your appointment date and time (even a month in
advance is not too soon) or, if that is not possible, call a few days before-if
space is available, transportation will be provided.
An escort
may ride with the client if needed.
